  • Performs assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of an RN or LPN. Monitors and operates patient care equipment. Performs specialized technical patient care procedure.

  • Performs vital signs and records information. Records blood glucose results. Reports observations and unusual information regarding patients to RN/LPN.
  • Maintains, observes, and performs site care of common drainage tubes and devices. Observes color, consistency, amount and odor from drainage tubes; records patient intake and output and notifies RN/LPN of findings.
  • Assists RN/LPN in providing patient care according to individual needs by observing IV site appearance, discontinuing peripheral INTs, performing simple wound care, assisting with range of motion, ambulation, patient transfers, diet/feeding, elimination, hygiene, performing pre-and -post-operative procedural care, and discontinuing foley catheters/nasogastric tubes, assisting with respiratory functions/procedures, initiation of telemetry monitoring, and assisting with (sterile) special procedures at the bedside.

JOB DESCRIPTION: This position supports The Emory Clinic outpatient operations with overall care coordination for patients, serving as their primary point of contact for all customer service, administrative and scheduling needs. They act as the liaison for the patient and family, working with both administrative and clinical staff from multiple departments to improve the patient's overall experience with Emory Healthcare. Description

JOB DESCRIPTION: Performs assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a licensed provider, RN or LPN. Responsible for routine clinical duties such as taking vital signs, administering a limited profile of medications per The Emory Clinic approved policy, performing simple diagnostic tests, collecting specimens, drawing blood, sterilizing and cleaning equipment and maintaining examination rooms in an outpatient care setting. As part of a patient focused service, promotes a supportive and healing environment to enhance customer and staff satisfaction. Assists in emergency situations as directed by an licensed provider, RN or LPN. May also be responsible for some administrative duties in support of patient and practice operations including patient check in/out, responding to patient requests, reinforcing patient and family education and visitor/telephone reception. Maintains patients' charts and records data, ensuring proper identification, documentation, routing and confidentiality. Maintains a clean and healthy environment in compliance with Universal Precaution guidelines and safety standards. Orders, verifies and stores unit supplies. Performs related responsibilities as required. All duties and patient interaction performed in accordance with Emory Healthcare patient and family centered care standards. May participate in research projects impacting patient care areas. Must be able to work a minimum of 48 hours per 4 week scheduled.  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:High School Diploma or GED required. Basic computer skills required. One year work experience preferred. Successful completion of a medical assistant training program from an accredited school, military hospital corps, medic or equivalent training, or successful completion of practical, diploma, associate or baccalaureate nursing program. Current Medical Assistant Certification in one of the following: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Healthcareer Association (NHA), or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).  Current AHA BLS certification is required for hire and must be renewed throughout employment. Must successfully complete all medical assistant orientation and training requirements including certification and annual skills competency. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks.
