Occupational Health Nurse

Our client is looking to hire for an Occupational Health Nurse. The Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) provides occupational health clinician case review and case management in a non-clinical setting for new hires and employees. Relies on extensive occupational health experience and judgment to make decisions that impact the health and safety of new hires, employees in safety-critical positions and potentially the general public. A high level of independence, and critical assessment and decision-making skills, similar to those of a senior-level clinician in an occupational health setting are required. The OHN must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge of the standards of occupational health clinician practice, applicable Federal regulations, evidence-based guidance, and Health Services policies, procedures and guidelines.
Principal Duties:
- Using sound clinical reasoning and judgment analyze and evaluate case situations (new hires, current employees with off- duty injuries, occupational injury/illness) to determine the appropriate course of action based on careful consideration of viable alternatives.
- Facilitate the safe and expedient return of employees to work using sound clinical judgement and best practice guidelines to determine their fitness for service.
- Ensure timely and accurate entry of all information in the employee’s medical file. Document verbal and written communications related to the employee’s case within Medical Case Management.
- On a case by case basis, evaluate the case situation(s) and make recommendations to the Chief Medical Officer
Job-Related Experience:
Minimum Level: 5-10 years of experience as a Nurse, Occupational Health Nurse, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner with occupational medicine experience and/or a minimum of 3-5 years of Case Management (or comparable experience).
Education:
Preferred Level: Bachelor of Nursing, Master's degree or higher for Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
Preferred Majors:
- Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS)/ Health Sciences (MHS)/ or Medical Sciences (MMSc),
- Adult or acute care nurse practitioner (ANP, ACNP)
Licenses / Certifications:
Required: Licensed (or ability to be) in the state of Georgia Preferred: BSN with COHN-S and/or CRC/CDMS/CRRN; PA-C, APN or equivalent
Technical Skills:
- MS Office
- Knowledgeable and experienced with illness/injury disability assessment and medical rehabilitation management.
- Knowledgeable regarding applicable Federal regulations and evidence-based medical guidance.
