About this role
In collaboration with and under the supervision of the physician staff, the Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – Telehealth will assess inmate patients with regard to acute complaints via the telemedicine platform. These unscheduled visits will present at intervals throughout the NP’s/PA’s scheduled shift. The video encounters will be with the patient and/or facility medical staff as appropriate. The NP/PA will coordinate the patient plan of care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in collaboration with the healthcare team and in compliance with local policies and procedures and all agency, local, state, federal laws and regulations.
What you bring to the table
Education:
- Completion of a master’s program in nursing (NPs) or an accredited education program for PAs
Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years’ Emergency Department experience working as a NP/PA or completion of a one (1) year Emergency Medicine Fellowship required
Licenses/Certifications:
- Unrestricted current license, certification, or registration in EACH state of practice - must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc.
What you will do
- Rapidly respond and deliver care in compliance with company protocols and procedures.
- Evaluate patients for typical acute care and Emergency Medicine complaints via telemedicine and recommend treatment according to standard practice, standardized procedures, and protocols.
- Consult with physician about conditions that fall outside protocol parameters.
- Identify patients clinically indicated for emergency transfer offsite to an Emergency Department
- May assess psychiatric stability in conjunction with a physician collaborator to manage acute medical, traumatic, and psychiatric issues.
- Document all findings using the S.O.A.P. method in the telehealth platform and the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Ensure confidentiality of all protected health information per HIPAA guidelines.
- Participate in Quality Management and Peer Review activities.
- Attend periodic administrative meetings.
- Provide cross-coverage and clinical support for other services, as needed.
