The Lead Technician is responsible to install, supervise and assist in all phases of installing, service, testing and troubleshooting security, access control and video systems at customer sites. The Lead Technician will manage projects on site. The Lead Technician interacts directly with the client, client representatives, other contractors, and Kastle personnel to ensure successful installations and Service calls. The Lead Technician assists with project planning, scheduling and coordinating activities to ensure that Kastle System’s install or change orders are provided accurately and on time, and that these services meet or exceed client expectations.     

Responsibilities

  • Install, test, commission, and service/troubleshoot CCTV, access control, and security systems.
  • Ensures that systems are installed properly and on time in accordance with Kastle's procedures and quality control standards.
  • Provides technical assistance and support to Kastle’s Partners, as needed.
  • Provides feedback and information to identify any potential barriers to timely execution of the project, such as construction delays or changes.
  • Provides regular progress updates to all stakeholders.
  • Provides accurate documentation for completed work.
  • Responsible for providing proper documentation for inventory control and for maintaining proper inventory for vehicles and projects.
  • Maintains assigned company-owned vehicles, tools, equipment, and individual tool issue.
  • Communicates with customers, customer representatives, contractors, and Kastle staff as necessary to install and service equipment.
  • Stays up to date and knowledgeable in Kastle services, technology, as well as internal processes and procedures
  • Must be capable and knowledgeable to work independently performing installations and service tasks

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience installing and servicing access control, CCTV video systems, related network components and network topography and other electronic security integration systems
  • Technical training or Security/CCTV manufacturer training and certificates a plus
  • Mechanical aptitude and thorough knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • Strong electronics knowledge and hands-on experience of AC/DC theory, series and parallel circuits, open/close circuits and ability and knowledge to use digital volt meters to troubleshoot and repair wiring and devices
  • Must be knowledgeable of Serial Communication (RS232, RS485)
  • Must have solid understanding and hands-on knowledge of IP, Ethernet and networking protocol.
  • Knowledge of door hardware, electric/mechanical locking devices, and building codes pertaining to construction, fire, and electrical systems

Other Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be able to meet and maintain various certifications, licenses and/or registrations, in accordance with applicable state laws and as required by the electronic security regulations in the state (s) worked.
  • Must be willing to participate in and pass the company’s pre-employment screening process including a background investigation and drug screening.
  • Must continue to maintain a safe driving record and valid driver’s license to fulfill the travel requirements of this position.

Physical & Mental Requirements

  • Lift and carry up to 75 pounds
  • Climb Stairs and ladders while carrying weight
  • Use color vision to distinguish colored wires, signals, other lighting devices,
  • Use and manipulate hand tools, small power tools, communication and diagnostic devices

Work Environment

  • Open floor plans with ambient noise and activity consistent with office or call center work
  • Active constructive sites often without HVAC
  • Confined spaces (closets, basements, etc.)
  • The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, tools and vehicles
