Cagewash Technician I

Requirements: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent with a desire be become AALAS certified at the Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) level. This is an entry-level position.
Overview: Responsible for cagewash support required for the proper care and maintenance of the animal care and use program for client’s site in Atlanta, GA.
Description of Duties:

1. Meet the daily scheduled output of caging and accessory equipment in support of the non-human primate, large and small animal husbandry operation as directed.
2. Clean and sanitize animal caging and accessory equipment.
3. Dispose of waste from the facility following appropriate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
4. Maintain and perform routine repairs on caging and racks.
5. Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance on the cage washers and autoclaves, including checking and cleaning filters and roto-arms.
6. Process clean caging and accessory equipment appropriately, including putting bedding into cages and autoclaving cages and supplies.
7. Assist in sanitation and decontamination in all areas of the facility.
8. Understand and follow appropriate SOPs, safety procedures, and quality assurance guide¬lines.
9. Prepare and submit required cagewash records, charts, logs, and inventories as requested.
10. Maintain clean and organized work and personal areas.
11. Ability to work flexible hours when needed to meet the operational needs of the facility.
12. Report any abnormal conditions of the animal facility or immediate vicinity to supervisory staff.
13. Must be able to lift 50lbs.
14. Perform other duties under supervision, as assigned.
