As a member of our high performing team, this position provides program oversight and extensive training to our hospital based 4+ 1 NAACLS accredited Medical Technology/ Medical Laboratory Science program. Must be familiar with educational methodology, administration and accreditation/certification procedures. Candidate must have three years experience in CLS/MT education that includes teaching courses, managing and conducting learning experiences, student evaluation, curriculum development, input in policy and procedures, program evaluation. MT (ASCP) or CLS(NCA) certified generalist technologist is required for this position. Master’s or PhD required.

The successful candidate will review, plan, develop, recruit, interview and register students to the program and evaluate the effectiveness of the EHCMTP program. Will be responsible for the NAACLS accreditation requirements for the program, coordinates and administers clinical laboratory education programs and in-service programs for staff. Designs and implements program admissions criteria. Prepares, develops and monitor program budget to ensure compliance within fiscal restraints. Develop and maintain program curriculum making changes and updates as necessary. Facilitates training programs for students from affiliated programs. Interacts with program participants, facilitating and encouraging questions and discussions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor’s degree in medical technology or chemical, physical, or biological science. Other bachelor’s degree will be accepted if graduated from an accredited school of medical technology if science and math course meets requirements of certifying agency.

EDUCATION EXCEPTION: A bachelor’s degree may be waived for a medical technologist who was MT (ASCP) certified in the years prior to the bachelor’s degree requirement by the ASCP and a HEW/HHS technologist certified by Health and Human Services. Five years of medical technology experience which must include four years in a supervisory capacity. Certification or eligibility for certification by one of the following accreditation agencies: MT (ASCP) or categorical, MT (HEW), MT (HHS), MT (AMT), MT (NCA), CHT (ABHI). Certification must be obtained within 18 months of cumulative employment as a medical technologist in the state of Georgia. Exception: HLA technicians must be certified within 18 months of completing 12 month training period.
