KIPP Metro Atlanta seeks an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide health services that assist each student in achieving and/or maintaining optimum health by providing health services support to a single school. Reporting to the Regional School Nurse, the LPN will serve the health needs of our students and staff.
Job DescriptionStudent Health Administration
- Provides emergency crisis nursing care for students and staff in the school.
- Performs hearing, vision, dental, and scoliosis screening, nutritional assessments, and test manage chronic illness and disabilities.
- Provides direct nursing care and services to students in accordance with care plans and programs orders. Identifies/monitors health issues.
- Notifies, counsels, and assists students in obtaining remediation of health defects.
- Maintains thorough and comprehensive health required reports.
- Performs other related duties as required such as SST meetings and class presentations.
- Serves as a Trained Diabetes Personnel after receiving appropriate training.
- Other duties as delegated by the Regional School Nurse in accordance with the Georgia Nurse Practice Act (Board of Registered Nurses)
Compliance
- Helps ensure school compliance with federal, state and local school district guidelines and requirements
- Ensures timeliness, accuracy and thoroughness of medical documentation including monitoring of immunizations
- Vocational or other technical school, certification, training or apprenticeship required beyond HS
- Currently licensed in good standing with the Georgia Board of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse
- Knowledge of fundamental nursing concepts, practices, and procedures essential
- Work experience in a K-12 environment preferred
- Current CPR certification
- Detail-oriented with excellent follow-up and follow-through
- Excellent organizational skills, time management skills and ability to prioritize
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, demanding work environment
- Excellent customer service; strong written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional work ethic; very reliable and responsible
- Flexible, willing to learn and take on new responsibilities
- Professional, friendly, and adaptable personality; strong ability to provide high quality services to a wide variety of students (e.g. age, gender, ethnicity, socio-economic)

Compensation:

Organizational Overview:
KIPP Metro Atlanta is part of the nation-wide KIPP non-profit network of 255 college-preparatory, public charter schools educating more than 100,000 early childhood, elementary, middle, and high school students. KIPP Metro Atlanta currently operates eleven KIPP schools including four primary schools, five middle schools, one K-6 school, and one high school, as well as the KIPP Through College Program which supports students on their journey “to and through” college.
The regional support team provides financial and operational support and oversight to KIPP Metro Atlanta schools, develops instructional initiatives designed to strengthen the schools’ academic programs, and implements each school’s high school placement and alumni services through the KIPP Through College Program.
